This month I have some fun ideas for you...especially those of you who are closet hoopers! I'm not looking to change you but I do want to offer some ideas about how to get connected, increase your confidence (if that's an issue) and have more fun in the hoop! My first idea is for you to host a hoop jam. It doesn't have to be huge...My first hoop jam was in my basement with my cousins and my daughter (who was 5 at the time)! By inviting others over to dance in a small setting you will get a peek at how much fun it is to hoop with other people! Idea #2 Private classes - I get it...hooping with strangers can be hard on the nerves. A private class with a supportive teacher could be a baby step to getting a friend to come to a semi-private class. It is a safe place to learn, explore movement and improve your skills....and boost your confidence! Idea # 3 - Get a buddy! Seriously, recruit your best friend and turn on a song you loved from back in the day. Having a hoop bestie creates some special memories! Idea #4 - Teach someone to hula hoop! Hands down, the most fulfilling and inspiring thing I have experienced in the hoop is that moment where a new hooper comes to me and says they can't do something. And after our lesson something clicks and that face...oh that face of 'holy crap i just did that move i couldn't do!'... For me that face is addictive...so, dear closet hooper, sharing the gift of hoop dance with someone who has never hooped before is the best way I can think of to get you hooping with others and connecting with and building your community!
I hope you enjoyed these ideas for getting your hoop dance practice out of solo-land and connecting with other hoopers! Is there one of these ideas that you can do right now? I hope we get to hoop together soon <3 Come join my email list and connect with me! http://eepurl.com/btNc0z
